An Ode to the Goatherd

This is a model of a beautiful and tranquil farm. For a few years from 2011 to 2024 the Lego Goat became an unique element and something of a phenom. In 2024 Lego produced a minifigure of a Goatherd with a cute little goat, so I thought this minifigure needed a peaceful farm to live on.

To make this model interesting, I’ve added several small stories throughout. As life has a yin and a yang, so does this model where besides beauty and tranquility on the surface there’s a dark underside. A thief stays in the underground cave. He steals Kids (little baby goats) and barbecues them for his sustenance. He also has a water source as a little stream flowing down from the pond above ground.

I’ve added a few interesting techniques here as well. The underground cave wall is all constructed at diagonal angles and I’ve written about it on The Brothers Brick.

Lastly, I would like to highlight the use of broken Lego pieces. Most of us builders have a few broken pieces especially in the red-brown color. I have used these to depict broken planks of wood used to construct the chicken coop and the goat shed. Authentic right? :)
